Cyberpunk

Cyberpunk is a science fiction genre noted for its focus on “high tech and low life”. The name is a portmanteau of cybernetics and punk and was originally coined by Bruce Bethke as the title of his short story “Cyberpunk”, published in 1983. It features advanced science, such as information technology and cybernetics, coupled with a degree of breakdown or radical change in the social order. How supid is the mankind.... Cyberpunk is a Sci-Fi-Genre, which startet with the Blade Runner movie and the Neuromancer novels, this has nothing to do with musicgenre, like GoryJury1 saids, it has more gone to a movement. Dope Stars Inc, Rammstein and and and... tagged as Cyperpunk... LOL!

Cyberpunk isn't really a genre, but more of a movement which has entered all forms of media. Their really isn't an "official" CP band, but instead there are musicians that invoke a CP feeling. To me bands, such as Skinny Puppy, Laurie Anderson, and Severed Heads are CP.

if what you're doing relies on dressing up like a clown, wearing lipstick and snarling at LEDs, well, that's something. if good music happens to be created at the same time, that's not only incidental but surprising.
