"The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and for example The Doors or Jimi Hendrix" Blues-rock-> Rock with some "artsy" hints; Pop->Pop-rock-> Crapload of diverse genres; psych/proto-prog rock; Hard rock. See, all of them can be named with a term that actually tells you what to expect them to sound like.
