Britrock

Britrock was used to refer to early 90s British Rock bands like The Wildhearts (Newcastle), Manic Street Preachers (Wales) and Therapy? (N. Ireland) who emerged onto a landscape dominated by Baggy from Madchester and Shoegaze from Southern England.     jesus christ stop tagging Coldplay, Kooks and Snow Patrol etc, this is for way heavier bands. they're even limper than the limpest britpop. Libertines are basically just britpop revivalists too. Britrock was the UK equivalent of grunge and alt rock, loosely bands with a rough punk sound playing poppish songs with a lot of distortion, often with metal riffs. Think of it as any music from early Ash to actual metal
