The music of Southeastern Europe or Balkan music is a type of music distinct from others in Europe. This is mainly because it was influenced by traditional music of the South-eastern European ethnic groups and mutual music influences of this ethnic groups in the period of Ottoman Empire. But also northern Romanian music (from Transsylvania and Moldova) for me is not really Balkanian music... - Well, in the case of Greece and northern Romania it is not clear. Only in the case of Hungarian or even more northern Eastern European music it is definitly NOT "balkan" music. Unfortunately don't know this fact yet...
