Acid jazz

Acid jazz (also known as club jazz) is a musical genre that combines elements of soul music, funk, disco, particularly looping beats and modal harmony. It first developed in America in a simplistic form from artists such as Sonny Stitt who infused funk, gospel, jazz, and other popular genres with a recurring backbeat. In the UK it developed over the 1980s and 1990s and could be seen as tacking the sound of jazz-funk onto electronic dance/pop music for the UK. Read more…|Edit this Artist photo: Parov Stelar

this genre fucking sucks, as it's neither acid or jazz, it's just shitty fucking pop music with like the tiniest of funk elements (like a majority of pop music)

Wa Creans is Japanese music label. I recommend my label artists. Sounds like: abstract, soundscape, trip hop, jazz, Japanese picturesque scenery & rhythm. Relax and enjoy.

digitalphunc - you have a point but sometimes it makes sense and it it necessary. I actually hate myself a bit for tagging with acid jazz a way too big range of artists some of whom have nothing to do with the origins of this genre but distinguishing between nu jazz and acid jazz became tiring for me and I simply couldn't put Jazzanova and Coltrane under the same tag.

too many boxes and categories... if its jazz call it jazz, if its rock call it rock, I like how they even try to put blues in a box, music is music but everyone want to compartmentalize music.
