Speed Metal

Speed metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal music originating in the early 1980s, rooted in the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and hardcore punk. It is described by the Allmusic site as “extremely fast, abrasive, and technically demanding” music. @Marco_Cult: A band isn't "speed metal" just because it is fast. Dragonforce are _not_ speed metal, and people obviously got confused with the name and tagged them as this because they play fast. Speed metal is basically thrash metal as far as I can tell.

Men, speed metal actually does not exist. Yeah, it doesn't exist cause you can't define a genre only because you say it is fast, that's only a stupid measure. Otherwise, ALL metal (except doom-ish music) should be labelled as "speed metal". Now tell me, aren't heavy, thrash, death, black, power etc. all fast styles? But they're all different, so... fuck speed metal. And do not take it as a minor subgenre, like goregrind... there the lyrics make the difference, not the speed, it is like grindcore indeed, but the lyrics are better than the speed to define a genre.
