Then again it's entirely possible that in another 40 years or so technological advances are going to be made that make the dawn of the 21st century seem neanderthalian in comparison. If you were alive in the 60's you wouldn't know about any of the advances to come and therefore wouldn't care. And there's going to be problems in every decade you live in; it can't be avoided.

In my honest and very biased opinion, I like 1960's music and 2000s tech, but honestly consider both to be fairly disastrous decades (60's with ill-advised "Urban renewel" and stuff, and 2000's with ill-advised "political correctness" overload and stuff).
