  • it was originally about jazz,soul jazz, the late 50's modernists and now just listen to acid jazz and deep funk soul to find the r&b roots of mod...groovy!

  • No, it isn't any paradox to like both hippies and mods. Mods predated hippies. When the mod culture faded in the latter part of the 1960s, some mods who were into psychedelia and folky sounds eventually became hippies. Those mods who were more working class and who stuck to Jamaican sounds shaved their heads and evolved into skinheads. Think about Small Faces: their first album was pure mod R'n'B but their last album Ogden's Nut Gone Flake was full of colourful flower power psychedelia.
