  • Link to Articles About UK Post-Rock and Related Bands

This thread was inspired by the appearance of the following links in this group's shoutbox...

An old interview with Graham Sutton of Bark Psychosis (originally posted by Jared):

A New interview with Piano Magic (originally posted by Geyumasan):

And of course, we can't pass up another chance to link to the original Wire magazine article where the term "post-rock" was first defined by Simon Reynolds:

Talking of Reynolds, here's a link to a scan of an interview he did with Papa Sprain (click the image to get a closer look):

    Anyone got any more?

There was a great one on Pitchfork a few years back titled 'The Lost Generation.' Pitchfork seem to have removed the original text

but it's still available as a pdf here:

  • Ah yes, thank you! I was looking for that "Lost Generation" article but all I could find was the blank page on Pitchfork.

  • My love for Disco Inferno was shared...

on Tiny Mix Tapes, where I recently started work.

It's all about DI Go Pop! Check it out, read, and watch the abso-freakin-lutely amazing video for Starbound....

"Commiserations to Sir Alec Hendrix for accidentally posting a personal note to himsef in a public place, misinterpreting the concept of the "note to self". This must explain his low IQ. I'm afraid you are not Special Agent Dale Cooper, and you never shall be."

  • Interesting blog post from Mr Reynolds about people who used the term "post-rock" before he did:

    And there's a postscript here:

  • Insides interview wot I did + others

Scroll to p14 and you can read an interview I did with Kirsty Yates of Earwig/Insides. Excuse the bad writing and poor layout.

There's a slightly pointless Pram postal int, plus stuff on Moose, Bleach Beatnik Filmstars etc in first effort:

Eventually I'll get round to scanning the interview I did with Graham Sutton about "Hex".

Many thanks for uploading that. Insides come across as quite bitter. But 'Euphoria' and 'Clear Skin' are a golden legacy. I still play them far too much.

Was going to make a thread asking for UK post-rock recommended reading, then I saw this thread.

It's been a while since the last post though, has there been anything else of note since?

  • Well, there's Neil Kulkarni's "A New 90s" articles for The Quietus, which you should be able to find here:

Did Seefeel do any interviews around the release of their last album?
