    Master(ing)s of loudness

A thread about mastering engineers whose productions you should avoid to buy (if you're used to listen to music with a better equipment than an iPod® or a car radio).

1.) Let's start with Vladimir "Vlado" Meller, Senior Mastering Engineer for Sony Studios:

    Vlado Meller talking:

On the uses of compression and EQ

Mastering tips for the home studio: "...there's a limit what you can do with the level, the EQ, the compression"(!) (at ca 1:04)

Some well-known parts of his "works":
    - Lou Reed & Metallica – Lulu (2011)
    - Red Hot Chili Peppers – Stadium Arcadium (2006)
    - Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication (1999)
    - Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory? (2003 remaster)
    - Beastie Boys - Make Some Noise (2011) *LOL*

    "I'm the transmitter - I give information,
you're the antenna - catch the vibration."

  • This is one of those guys who are responsible for loudness masterings?

Think he will get a visit by some of my friends soon... ;)

    I split even with Ma, didn't I?
