pretty self-explanatory...

- Are you tired of your friends raving about the newest Grizzly Bear, Muse or Arctic Monkeys' single,
only to question them further and find they only know 3 of the band's songs?

- Do you listen to music seldom played on your local radio stations?

- Do you just like joining random last.fm groups?

Then this group is for you!

I can only decide whether or not an artist is worthy of my time by listening to almost all their albums. If I like most of 'em, that decides the artist is worthy to me. A good album is mark of genius. Not everyone can produce something consistent, yet a variety without compromising the integrity of the thematic relationship the songs share.

Compiling songs into one album is also a creative process yet overlooked. It is, perhaps, the uttermost important part of production for an artist: to create the perfect album. An album doesn't only have to be a compilation of songs - the songs included therein must complete a visualized concept by the artist. An album is akin to a book. It has a thematic relationship between the songs.

I love Time Life albums. Dozens of artists on every CD. I have every year's hits from 1950 to 1990. That said, I'm not joining this group :D

for me its a mixed thing, sometimes I only listen to albums, sometimes only singles, or single songs. [4] Working out, skiiing, or driving to work? Singles. On a plane, at home, or whenever I get a chance at work? Full albums.

An album to me is like a coherent work of art, and I have to listen to it in it's entirety to get the whole feel of it.

In an album, I see the tracks like the chapters of a book.

It's been almost 50 years now that almost every recorded musician has bigger and bolder works called albums, and aside from concerts they are the artistic focus of pretty much everyone. Singles remain only as introductions to the artist's music (almost advertisements) and celebrative reasons. Nowadays you have tons of compilations and can pick songs at random, and that can be fun sometimes, you can rearrange intersting selections by theme, compare stuff, etc. But even that is pointless if you're not familar with a fair number of albums first. And if you really like the band, why the hell would you want to remain on the surface of their work? I don't get it.
