"Beware" is the best album of the year...and also "sometimes I wish we were an eagle" from Bill Callahan.

Dear friends: I checked out the total of plays, not only of Bonnie 'Prince' Billy (4,463,565), but of all the different monikers of Will altogether. Counting also Palace, Palace Music, Palace Songs, Palace Brothers, Arise Therefore, his collaboration with Matt Sweeney and, of course, under his real Will Oldham name. That way he arrives, no more no less, than 5,704,003 plays in Last.Fm.

replace beatles with radiohead and it's still true :) except that radiohead does appear high in the charts.

Will Oldham's music, in all its different forms (from Palace Brothers to Bonnie 'Prince' B), has had a big influence on my book. Please read it. Take a look at for more information and come befriend me - THE LOUDEST SOUND AND NOTHING, Clare Wigfall, Faber & Faber, September 2007
