Hi guys, I was _ayechoons_ (I think I had those underscores, it's been a while) on Often found playing 12XU by Wire. I really enjoyed blip for a while, but its addictive nature kept me up too many nights too late. Sorry to read here about the problems that the site suffered. It was a very useful way to find new music that I enjoyed with some great people making me smile often. is useful to a point, but does lack the interactivity that blip had.

i still *really* miss the heydays of blip, and i check in every so often, hoping what we once had there (for me, the best times were 2009-2011) will once again return, but just wind up frustrated when my chosen blips aren't available to play, and most of my blipstars gone. the camaraderie and joy we found there was nearly unparalleled. i do incorporate music heavily into my photography, but blip was literally a special blip in time, and i'm grateful to enjoyed it while it lasted. still, hard to let go!

    Amen on what LindyLuv said

  • LindyLuv seems to be "morphing" into a different kind of place. It used to be friendlier, and DJs used to be friendlier. Now it seems to be a bit more frantic, like everyone is trying to get a badge, or get more props, or have as many favorite DJs as possible. No one listens to music. There are stalkers calling others all kinds of names, people creating false/multiple identities, all kinds of shenanigans going on. There are DJs who simply reblip all the time and have no original music of their own to share! I do not know what to make of it all, yet I still go there.

how can I invite a couple of exilers to this group?

  • dustin_is_alive Read this. The RIAA is just getting more desperate, pathetic, outdated and dumb.

Also as turntable made the service "restricted" to the US probably makes a difference. 8tracks limits your playlist to 2 tracks from the same artist or album but they have added soundcloud now so that's a great addition for new artists. Wish the big labels would actually see these things a being good, most small indie labels do.

@kidamaluca: has restrictions applied to uploaded music that didn't. They only allow three songs from any one band or album in an hour, I believe. That might not be enough to stop the record labels from going after them, but they might be operating within copyright law in the U.S. The record labels are so dumb. I've bought more music in the last few months as a direct result of sites like Blip and than I had ever listening to commercial radio.

Hey hey .. Thanks for add Jon G and Helen. I don't see a discussion board on some of the freebies you can download from Last, but there are many.. I'll start with this one. I think "Bon Iver" upon hearing this. If that's your style, you might like Enjoy! -- L

Posted this on the blip blog in response to question about hotlinking. It's the last part that I want to re-post here, as I feel very strongly about this today. I deeply miss the musical blip experience of sharing music with other audio enthusiasts located all over the world. I miss listening to some of my favorite DJs and exchanging messages about the song or event or whatever. I miss being surprised and delighted by what I heard, and as a result sharing something that was inspired, which they in turn, returned. I miss the immediacy of doing all the above - the real-time aspect is totally brilliant. And I miss the use of simple “props”, the mutual validation we gave each other on our already outstanding taste (okay, maybe that is stretch). I miss the plain fun we had. Perhaps, with the new update, that can be brought back.

Thanks for the invite, Helen, and hi everyone :) Redheaded stepchild of the indie genre...haha Joe....somehow that sounds like a great band name to me.

as one of the few resident Blip Shoegazers, which is the redheaded stepchild of the indie genre, my forte of making fave lists of some very obscure tunes is almost impossible now lists were compiled almost entirely from mine and other's Dropbox UL's which are of course no longer available...I'll still hang out alittle here and there but it'll never quite be the same...very sad....damn RIAA =(
