Tasov u Veselí nad Moravou, Czech Republic
The “Beseda u Bigbítu” festival has been held at a grove in the Moravian village Tasov at the base of The White Carpathians since 1992 (as a two-day event since 2002). It supports minority genres and strives to create a platform for the confrontation of talented amateur musicians with experienced artists from Europe as well as other continents.
Artists regardless of genre boundaries (including dulcimers and contemporary opera) annually meet on the two festival stages. The biggest stars of the past years include French trumpeter Erik Truffaz, Finnish crossover band Waltari, Wanda Johnson & Shrimp City Slim Blues Band (USA), Másfél (HUN), Tres Hombres (HUN), Felix Kubin (DE), Besh o droM (HUN), Erik Sumo Band (HUN) and – representing the Czech and Slovak scenes – Tata Bojs, Polemic, Bluesweiser, Boboš & Frozen Dozen, Peter Lipa, Mňága a Žďorp, Anna K, Psí vojáci, Už jsme doma as well as hundreds of others.
The festival is organized mainly to enlighten the visitors and is a non-profit event. The organizers from Žebřiňák civic society together with tens of volunteers invest their time to maintain the festival’s tradition, raise its quality and expand the accompanying events. They also extensively develop over-the-boarder cooperation with Slovakia and have now also been cooperating with partners from Hungary and Poland for two years which lead to the support from the International Visegrad Fund.
