I bought a Saturday pass as soon I saw Donald Glover, M83, Neon Indian, Lykke Li etc. were on the line-up. When I got there it immediately reminded me of a mini-acl or lollapalooza. I was pissed when staff volunteers made me throw out my CamelPak Bladder. Even though there was nothing in it! I get it, no outside food or drink.. but seriously guys, where am i supposed to put the water from the FREE water stations? I was suprised and disappointed in the problems with sound as well. There was sound/technical problems @ Dan Deacon, Childish Gambino, and Neon Indian. And that was just at the Blue Stage. Neon Indian could have been so much better if there sound quality was better! Overall this fest was very fun fun fun! Hearing M83's midnight city while the sun was going down behind my hometowns skyline was tremendous.
@Inuzini: After listening to Slayer for about 40 mins, we wandered over to check out OF and thought it sounded pretty good if you were directly in front of the stage. If you were off to the right, there was definitely sound bleed coming from Slayer.
I watched Neon Indian for 25-30 minutes and had no issues with sound at all, but again, was front and center which was evidently a requirement at the Blue stage.
Went Saturday. Sadly missed Keep Shelly In Athens. :( tUnE-yArDs was excellent. Ra Ra Riot was fun. Girls stole my heart, and I even caught flowers! Just beautiful! Neon Indian's performance was ruined due to sound quality; just horrible. I also didn't like how dust was flying everywhere!
I gotta say, this was probably the best run festival I've been to. I was nervous about the size of the park but it worked out perfectly. The sound was excellent and they did a great job of having it not interfere significantly with the other stages. Food selection was wonderful and I was easily able to get something different every day although I was blown away at the lack of Coke/soda being offered. :(
Will absolutely go again next year and SERIOUSLY consider going the PIP route.
