Hibernate presents Aidan Baker, A-Sun Amissa & Plurals at Islingon Mill, Manchester, 7pm on Thursday 6th October. Entry just £5 on the door.
Aidan Baker is a canadian musician & writer alternately based in Toronto & Berlin. he performs as a solo artist & with the groups Nadja + Arc. A classically trained multi-instrumentalist, his primary instrument is the electric guitar with which he creates music ranging from experimental/drone to ambient post-rock to contemporary classical. He has released numerous albums on labels from around the world & has authored several books of prose/poetry.
A-Sun Amissa is Richard Knox and Angela Chan. Richard Knox lives and works in Leeds, UK and is one half of the ambient/modern classical duo Glissando, an occasional live member of Sleepingdog (with Chantal Acda of True Bypass and Adam Wiltzie of Stars of the Lid) and collaborator of 'The Rustle of the Stars' with Frederic D. Oberland amongst other musical projects. Richard also runs Gizeh Records - an independent record label releasing music by the likes of FareWell Poetry, Conquering Animal Sound, Sleepingdog, Glissando, Fieldhead and Trespassers William.
Angela Chan also lives and works in Leeds, has been a live and recording member of Glissando for the past year and also writes and performs with Tomorrow We Sail, TEN and various other projects.
Plurals are Daniel Mackenzie (aka Ekca Liena), Duncan Harrison, Dave Hamilton Smith (aka Me With Others), Michael Neaves (of One Man Team dance) who together form an expansive ambient drone / noise group. Multi-layered keyboards, guitars, vocals and more come together in pieces that cover lush ambience, dark and sinister noise and tripped out psychedelics.
