Definitely similar to MBV, however that sound is a jackpot in the right crowd. I'm totally in love with it, though I'd have to see YP live, since that's how MBV really achieved notoriety. Turn your monitors at the crowd and give em hell. It's an endurance test.
Fuck comparing them to My Bloody Valentine they aim for and achieve something completely different than what MBV did. To me it's about the experience of living out your youth on the west coast in the 21st century that makes their music so special. Wish people would stop comparing albums to other bands work just take it for what it is each work stands on its own as a unique creation. Granted some are better than others, but ppl who don't like it should just stfu because you're never going to get it so stop ruining it for the rest of us.
In Between will have a lot of controversy. Either people will be disappointed in their inconsistent sound from their debut, or those who didn't understand Friends For Now will have a preference and compared love for In Between. Either way, new album is beautiful and deserves appreciation.
first album was shit, stuck with them though because if you want to was such an incredible song. new album is pretty good, shame some of the aggressiveness is gone but as a whole it's far more listenable than friends for now
