Biografia

The Latency is a pop rock band from Maple Ridge, BC. They formed in 2006 from the remains of three previous bands. They have since signed to Maple Music and are set to release their debut full length on September 8th, 2009.

The Latency was originally a three piece. Ryan Stead (guitar) and Mathew Gendron (bass) approached Brandon Lehti (vocals) about starting The Latency after their previous band dismembered. They were attracted to the singer's impressive vocal skills while playing a local show together in 2006. They continued in this form, with Lehti on drums, for a couple months until guitarist, Ryan Stead met up with Tommy Mac, bassist of multi-platinum recording group Hedley. Mac would go on to produce the band's full length album as well as manage the group. It was decided that Lehti would be more useful as a frontman, trading his position on drums for a spot up front on guitar. The band picked up Jonny Wiebe on drums in 2007 in preparation for the band's first studio release, "CHOMP!!"

The Latency's first studio recording, CHOMP!!, was independently released on July, 1st 2008. It featured six songs and was supported by various Canadian tours with bands including Hedley, State of Shock, Shiloh, Faber Drive, Ten Second Epic, and Marianas Trench. The EP put The Latency's name on the Canadian music scene, especially the track "Tonight, I Love You". This song would become the band's first single after such a heavy demand at radio stations from fans pushed the song into heavy rotation on most major radio stations across Canada. They also released a video for the song in 2009 which would hit #1 on MuchMusic's Daily Ten various times. Although the band was able to achieve this overwhelming success independently, in 2009, they signed with Maple Music Recordings in Canada, spawning a re-release of CHOMP!! in stores as well as a new video for their second video single, "Kids". "All You Wanted", a song off the upcoming debut full-length, was simultaneously released to radio in Summer 2009 in preparation for the early-September release of the album
