iirc things went on hold when John had a cancer diagnosis (and then the pandemic shut things down for a while anyways). Seems like John is thankfully healthy and living in Europe, and apparently Nathan lives in Europe too, so it just seems like the distance would be tough to overcome. I guess they're cruisin on hiatus for now.

No, it was a Q&A on a Tera Melos fan server called “The Frozen Zoo”. Of course it ended a while ago (sadly :( )but there’s an archive of it on #nick-reinhart-qna and he’s still on the server I think. Here’s a link to the server https://discord.gg/A3NpqDeH (it expires in a week)

Слов не хватит, чтобы описать качество мат-рока на первых работах. даже переходя постепенно на инди и выпустив X'ed Out, все равно звучат шикарно. Великая группа.

I don't know how these guys flew under my radar for so long, but I'm glad I finally discovered them.

These guys totally rocked Dallas last night (8/20/15), with their unconventional-mathy awesomeness. These 3 talented chaps only proved to me, once again, that I'd want an infinite supply of their songs played live when they're in town; too bad there's only so much time in a single day :~/ (or in these instances, venue lineup). Nathan ceases to disappoint me with his loud and groovy bass lines, Nick is THE Professor of experimental pedal usage and spontaneous-abstract guitar sounds- and John's speed, rhythm and hard-hitting focus- combined with both guitarist's quick alterations is the creme brûlée, speaking for myself. These guys are a compatible bunch; they really know how to compliment each other's own individual sounds, and even more impressively so when it comes to the impromptu. Tera Melos is a great band in general, and the 3 whom make it up are just genuine music-loving dudes who clearly love their craft, so if you get the chance to see them live- i'd recommend not to miss it.

@jjjjjjjjjjjjonj "it's just a complication of previously established idioms" [With snark] Lol yep, welcome to the real world where everything is a remix. The emergence of jazz, rock and roll, or really any other genre is likewise just a complication or reformulation of previously established idioms. [Without snark] what bands do you view as being more innovative?

band formed around a principle: even though they can play their instruments well the music sucks

when i hear music like this my tendency is to think of it as "lateral complexity," as in, it's not actually all that innovative or experimental, it's just a complication of previously established idioms. I was listen to 40 Rods to the Hog's Head (I remember talking about Tera Melos with my friend Oscar in high school and him saying, "No dude, 40 Rods to the Hog's Head") and I found it pretty insufferable tbh.

when i saw them live bassist kept putting his junk near my face and i wouldn't budge because i was in high school and thought it was cooler if i didn't react to him moving around on stage. i think he was making fun of me now tbh
