• New band/project: Synthesia

    Ago 13 2006, 15h35 por MelonMan1981

Synthesia is now a 1-year old band/project that was born in spring 2005 as an Internet musical association between a musician (keyboards and guitars) from Lille and a singer/lyrics writer from Montpellier (actually it's me :p). Very rapidly, we began the writing process of our fisrt demo/album that would be entitled "Rain of Light". Along with original compostions, we also decided to do some covers just for fun and as a kind of tribute to some bands we love.

Since more than one year now, we made 11 original songs for the album and many covers of artists/bands like Nightwish, Rhapsody, Luca Turilli, Europe, Gary Jules, Akira Yamaoka, Yui Makino, Nik Kershaw, and even a Christmas carol (Silent Night).

To sum everything up and to give you an idea of what our music sounds like, this is a list Synthesia's main musical influences: Nightwish, Ayreon, Rhapsody, Luca Turilli, Within Temptation, Voyager, Epica, Fairyland, Dream Theater, Star One, Ambeon, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra
  • 2005 - A Metal/Rock Year in Review

    Dez 20 2005, 16h16 por MelonMan1981

2005 has been a great metal/rock year... very great, maybe awesome ! I can't make a full review of the year with full sentences etc. or it will last ages... So there is a long listing, with my Top 10 albums of the year (very difficult to make it but I did it), all the other albums which deserve to be mentioned (and there are a lot), the most impressive new bands and also... the biggest disappointments ! Here we are, with some comments:

My Top 10 Albums of the Year:

    - 1/ Mago de Oz - Gaia II La Voz Dormida (BRILLIANT MASTERPIECE ! No lame songs, even the ballads are great, what else to say? I've decided to rank it 1st, in front of Helloween's album, that's a big surprise anyway)
    - 2/ Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys Part III - The Legacy (Oh my god, they stroke again! Another masterpiece from Helloween, maybe the best album after the 2 original Keepers and "Walls of Jericho"... best album with Andi Deris so far)
