Motion pictures on my tv screen,
A home away from home, livin' in between
But I hear some people have got their dream.
I've got mine.

  • "..bring a smile to yr eyes"
  • Peacefull
  • amazing song
  • i'm confused by a few of you. i highly doubt Neil intended this song to carry a depressing tone - the mood of the song melody (in my opinion) is rooted in the line "i'm deep inside myself but i'll get out somehow" i.e. the dynamics of self-reflection... but the rest of the lyrics regard hopeful self-assurance and affirmation of values in comparison to the typical motivations for fame that Neil saw around him at the time.
  • I can't help but wonder how many people have used Neil's recipe for honey slides from the '74 Bottom Line performance of this song (which is where that wonderful quote below comes from too!), and how many of them have been successful.
  • There's nothing to really get fast for anyway.
  • Where the hell has this music been my whole life
  • @petros85 Yeah, he's saying life is shit & he's depressed, but he's going to deal with it & not going to let it drag him down. I find it inspiring as well.
  • I never understand why people call songs like this depressing. I always find it uplifting that another human created something so beautiful. The mood of the song is sombre yes, but depressing is really the wrong word. Modern pop charts is where the depressing music is, not here.
  • One of the most depressing songs ever, let alone by Neil! Great though.
