Gimme Shelter is not a cover, it's just her own rendition

She kills it on Tori Amos' "Cornflake Girl." Love her covers of "Gimme Shelter" and "Southern Man," too.

By the way, Amazon is charging a MINT for the reissues. I found a killer deal on ebay, from a seller known as neo_kick. Lightening fast shipping from Japan, and packaged with much care.

Glad tidings for Merry Clayton fans! Merry's first three solo lp's have been reissued on Japanese import cd's! They include: "Gimme Sheler": hit title track, I Ain't Gonna Worry; Good Girls! Produced by Lou Adler with Merry's late husband Curtis Amy! "Merry Clayton": Absolutely essential! Hit After All This Time (with Carole King); Sho' Nuff (with Billy Preston); Whatever! Produced by Lou Adler! If you only buy one, this is it! "Keep Your Eye On The Sparrow": Hit title track, Dylan's Rainy Day Women; If I Lose! Produced by Gene McDaniels! Merry Clayton can by found on myspace. She runs her own page. The Big Sur concert is called "Celebration" on cd, and aslo includes Merry's stunning cover of "The Tymes They Are A' Changing". For those who really want some stellar Merry Clayton performances, check out the Roy Ayers cd's "Virgin Ubiquity" and "Virgin Umbiquity II". Besides severl killer Merry tracks, there is other treasure to discover!!!! All the best, Chris O

Heard her version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" from a 1969 concert in Big Sur this morning... It's *got* to be the best cover of that song ever, one of the best covers of all time.
