I have to agree with you. On review, my comment was pretty stupid. But I just wanted to say that I believe that Machinedrum is an absolute virtuoso. I love his music as well as all of his side projects. He's a genius.
lightfuel77, no region is always important. Machinedrum might currently be making music that is inline with some german future garage artist (hint, no they definitely sound different), but besides that Machinedrum has been producing music for over a decade and has spanned so many styles that "american" remains one of the few pinholds you can truly use to describe his over all outwork. Some day maybe you too can realize geography is as important if not some times more informative than a linear history.
It annoys me that people have tagged Machinedrum as American. What's the difference between American and German future garage artists? I'll give you a hint, there is none. Tags are helpful for roughly categorizing an artist, but it gets pointless sometimes. The guy is really talented, it has nothing to do with him being American or not. Let's tag everyone as human.
I took the Vapor City Metro Mix on a trip to Paris. Listened to it for days as I wandered through the city. Now every time I hear it it takes me back. This being a highlight: http://tinyurl.com/lovesundered
also: http://www.tinymixtapes.com/music-review/machinedrum-vapor-city this fucking TMT review. wow. Amazing example of not doing yr research + just a boring, terrible writeup complaining that it's not a vaporwave album. just thought I'd share the laugh with fans!
Has anyone else heard this Vizion Centre Mix?? It's not the Vizion Center EP, but an 80 min mix in the same dark, creaky ambient vein. Very good. (I randomly found it on whatcd and have no clue where he released it)
So awesome to see this guy get the recognition he deserves after years of toil. Vapor City and his recent Essential Mix are fucking quality. Also if you get a chance to see him live, holy shit. AMAZING.
