This album came out Feb. 22nd, 2005 and I saw them live that Friday, the 25th. They were great. I hope they can get their shit together and return to their roots someday. Their new shit just flat out sucks. It can't be overstated. Such a shame.
They can do what they want, but this is when they owned their own sound. Youth & Young Manhood was too gravelly/obnoxious, their last two albums sound good, but aren't unique, here they took what was great about their debut and stripped away what wasn't. They've never been deep artists, but this is just a plain fun dirty rock record, and I think the same is mostly true of Because of the Times.
i fell in love with Kings of Leon with this album, and dont get me wrong i still love them, but i cant deal with their new "coldplay status" i don't like their new stuff, while i understand why other people do, this is their #1 BEST album ever and nothing will ever top it. i just wish they would go back to their roots.
I used to love this band, this album in particular. Then they broke my heart. Seriously, there was something unique about KOL back then. Now they are just rock/pop by numbers. A sad thing. The saddest part of it is they clearly made a conscious effort to make more radio friendly music. When the fad dies down and their new 'fans' desert them for the next good thing where will they be?
