Dez 30 2012, 15h41 por JeekabsWell, folks, another year has passed again, so, by following to my first and second blog entries, I will put down the list of my favourite artists, tracks and albums of the year 2012.
This has been an awesome year for me, starting from taking the part at the finals of international moot court competition at Oxford, Great Britain and ending up with running a 42.195 km marathon, earning a bronze medal at the Latvian student championships in swimming and triumphing at the legal journal Jurista Vārds legal research paper competition, not to mention defending final bachelor thesis with distinction, starting a professional career, being awarded with a scholarship from a prestigous law firm and enjoying the life and Roman holiday with my beloved friend of friends Laura. In other words, this year was great!
Unfortunately, I was so busy by doing all of those things, that I was not able to listen and enjoy as much of great music as I would love to. …

Absolutely my favourite new discovery of the year. Now that my Japanese language skills are a bit better (nowhere near "good", just better than they were when I wasn't taking classes due to an overloaded class schedule), Ryujin is totally my emo music, as opposed to Panic! At the Disco (I am very much looking forward to the new P!ATD album whenever they decide to shit it out).
2. Ryohei 259
I listened through his album "Rat the Wolf" once, and put it aside. My initial impression was that it was alright, but kind of samey. Six months later, I had the urge to listen to "Amsterdam" again one day, and then I didn't put the album aside for about 2 or 3 months straight. Soon I got a little tired of Amsterdam, but I had a week-long obsessions with about half songs on the album. Then I went back and listened to ReListen and his cover albums, even Ryohei Yamamoto stuff, and yeah. That's how this happened.
3. 倖田來未 197 (#8 Last Year)

Dez 25 2010, 9h33 por biles1234My top 50 songs of 2010. This list merely represents the music that I have listened to in 2010. Enjoy.
50. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Conscience Killer
"Conscience Killer" immediately hearkens back to BRMC's kickass debut, proving that the band can still rock the fuck out while producing a catchy hook and maintaining their obnoxious motorcycle gang schtick (that nobody buys). Solid tune and one of the highlights from BRMC's surprisingly above-average effort, Beat the Devil's Tattoo.
49. Erykah Badu - Window Seat
A psychedelic soul number here that spawned a nude music video of the beautiful Erykah Badu. "Window Seat" brings to mind a lot of her earlier material -- think Baduizm. There's the hypnotic singing, the seamless transitions, and ultimately the butterfly vocal climax taking you on a jazzy journey far away from Planet Earth.
48. Kings of Leon - Beach Side
Dez 23 2010, 20h31 por Confessions872010 has been the best year for music for a long time. I remember 2007 and 2008 being particularly great, too, but I wasn't expecting this year to be so good. This list was incredibly hard to compile and has probably been thought about way too much over the past month. Even the albums that don't make the top ten have all been so thoroughly enjoyable to listen to, so if your favourite seems quite low, it's only because the standard was so frickin' high all round. There's all the usual suspects featured here and a few others. My top three are almost too difficult to separate (they are all equally my top album of the year), yet this list demands a distinct order and a distinct order is what it will have.
I'll begin with a few albums that didn't quite make the mark.
Vampire Weekend / Contra
The biggest disappointment of the year, along with the album directly below.
M.I.A. / MAYA
Best Coast / Crazy for You
Probably the single most obvious example on this list of an album that is as catchy as it is annoying. …
