The few shouts alreday posted here when you came were those lovely ones discussing that Caccini's "Ave Maria" most surely isn't really one of his compositions - and nevertheless you were posting your stupid comment? I abhor those people going to, say, Vivaldi's page and write "Spring" or "<8" in the shoutbox, and now you even have to witness stupidity like that on lesser known artist's pages as well. It's a shame.

  • Perhaps the vocal part of Ave Maria could have been based on Caccini in the same way as Remo Giazotto's Albinoni's Adagio has a basso continuo fragment by Albinoni. But what the instruments play in Ave Maria doesn't sound like baroque at all. If the composition is such a re-working based on Caccini, the Caccini original should exist somewhere, and I haven't found sources for that either.

  • I don't know if it's possible that he composed an Ave Maria setting (I haven't seen a list of his complete works) but the famous Caccini's Ave Maria which is performed by Andrea Bocelli and other big stars, is not by Caccini. It's not at all in the style of an early 17th century composer. Wikipedia says the real composer is Vladimir Vavilov who composed also other hoaxes, but I haven't found a
  • Poor Caccini, his best known piece is Ave Maria which isn't really composed by him.
