Set 28 2007, 4h33 por AxemRangers[19:15] Uninterpretative: it honestly does look like discogs for retarded people
It wasn't too long ago that I started seeing lots of folks on last.fm linking to pages on a site called "Rate Your Music," primarily for things like favorite album lists, but also in their profiles for no specific reason. Now, of course, for the longest time, I never followed or payed mind to these links at all. But as I started seeing more and more of them, I became embarrassingly intrigued as to why users on a music-oriented social networking site (of sorts) would be feverishly linking to another music-oriented social networking site. So, one day I pointed my Firefox to www.rateyourmusic.com and set up an account to see what it was all about.
After using many of the site's features, I can say with total conviction that I'm not at all sure what it is all about.
Rate Your Music ("RYM") appears to be a poorly conceived, unpleasant chimera of MySpace, last.fm and Discogs. It encourages the same sort of music discussion as last. …

Jan 1 2007, 18h14 por der_KarlSo... that's it. 2006 is finally over. Most things happened as expected; some other things came completely unexpected but were nevertheless quite welcome and some things did not work out as I'd planned.
One thing that's starting to annoy me is that I'm still single. Having been at my best friend's for New Year Years Eve I have to say that I'm quite envious about the fact that he finally found a girlfriend.
But anyway... I hope to finally finish my studies until May 2007 and then to get a job as a developer for the company where I currently write my diploma thesis. And for all the rest I'll also keep my hopes up. :D
And now for the music related part of this journal entry: These are my top artists for 2006...
2 Dune & The London Session Orchestra
4 Groove Coverage
6 DJ Tiësto
7 Kai Tracid
9 Future Breeze
10 Cosmic Gate
This very much reflects my main musical preference although I'm quite astonished to see Senn and Sevish…

Nov 28 2006, 21h18 por der_Karl...well, sort of. At least, that's roughly the amount of time I've listened to music and have been scrobbling. Okay, let me sort this out...
I've registered to audioscrobbler.com two years and four days ago. Since then Audioscrobbler became last.fm (while still keeping the name Audioscrobbler for the technology behind the system) and I've listened to 18129 tracks. With an average track length of 7 minutes in my collection this makes for 2115 hours or roughly 88 days of music. Quite impressive, although it should be more. But there's no Audioscrobbler plug-in for TCPMP - The Core Pocket Media Player, my player of choice on my Pocket PC. And there's no last.fm player for Pocket PC, either.
Okay, let's have a look at some stats.
Shortest track in my collection: Poesiealbum 8 - 10 seconds.
Shortest scrobblable track: Contact Lost - 38 seconds.
Longest track: Severed Dreams - 15 minutes, 38 seconds.
Artist with the most tracks: Dune, 158 tracks. Looking at my top artist list, this is no surprise.
