At the end of the year 2004, four boys out of the Black Forest got the idea to found a new band. Tobias Weinreich (Bass), Sebastian "Alley Jazz" Scherrer (Keyboards), Marco Schomas (Vocals) and Simon Schillinger (Guitar) were part of the band right from the beginning. Because the Line-Up of the band wasn't yet complete, the band renounced on rehearsals and concentrated on songwriting.
So quite a few songs were created in the first months of existence.
Later on the band decided to get a real accordion-player (Johannes Joseph) in the band because an accordion existed in all of the songs. At this time it was spring 2005. In spite of a missing drummer, all bandmembers wished to play the songs which were written until then. So Finsterforst made their way to a rehearsal room in May 2005.
The research for a real drummer continued to be without success. In summer, the band was thinking of recording some songs, although they had not much prospect of concerts because of the missing drummer. So time went by and in October a rhythm guitarist (David Schuldis) finally joined the band. The motivation for recording at a studio grew stronger and stronger and therefore the IGUANA-STUDIOS in Buchheim (March) were booked for a record of three songs. After some weeks of preparation the band finally managed it at the end of December 2005 to spend some days in the studio to record three of their songs.
When in March 2006 the EP "Wiege der Finsternis" had come out, the band started looking for a drummer more intensely. Nothing happened until October when drummer Cornelius Heck aka Wombo joined the band. Since then the band has been focusing on rehearsing the songs in order to get prepared for live gigs.
In February/March Finsterforst will be going to Iguana Studios again for recording their debut album.
