  • Good Cover Indeed.
  • Pretty cool, but it's missing more than Ronnie James Dio on vocals...
  • I'm about to quit my job to learn this solo.
  • pretty standard cover, lacks the atmosphere of the original ... good one thou.
  • Brilliant cover
  • Probably this is the best song covered by Dream Theater
  • dat LaBrie
  • This is an excellent cover.
  • James ROCKS !
  • I can't believe that LaBrie managed not to kill this song ;) . Obviously not better than original but still brilliant ;) .
  • nice attempt. pity that james labrie kills the whole song. cant understand how he dares to try to sing what dio sang. the rest is technically fine, like usual for dream theater. i miss the heart and feeling though.
  • it's an excellent cover BUT not better than the Original , Dio's vocals and the string arrangement are above LaBrie & DT :D
  • One of the best covers i ever heard.:-)
  • "Much better than the original" -> douchebag. R.I.P. DIO. |m|
  • Great cover! Of course not better than Ronnie but still awesome ; d
  • Until I can hear it live, I won't dare to say LaBrie has a better voice for this song. Instrumentally, it's awesome, though the continuum is quite annoying.
  • T'ohhh
  • James is fantastic!
  • Very nice
  • Ehh i dont know this song just doesn't do it for me.. its not the performance but the writing of the song itself.. i was never really big on rainbow anyways, though i was delighted by rainbow in the dark :p
  • Makes you realise (along with the Queen covers on this CD) what an awesome singer James LaBrie is, he's really under-used in DT these days. I wish Portnoy & Petrucci would utilise him more in their songwriting; too few fans realise what a first rate singer he is.
  • Great Cover yeah
  • A ja się zgodzę :D
  • ja powiem tyle: ZAJEBISTE !!! :D
  • another awesome cover of this song by Jorn Lande can be found on the Mundanus Imperium album The Spectral Spheres Coronation.
  • Came here to say what d00n3y already said. I was expecting this to be a huge let-down because I just don't see LaBrie singing a good Dio. Turned out pretty good though.
  • the best performance of La Brie ever !
  • This version has much less power than the Rainbow's one. I don't like it at all.
  • this is my favourite song off the new album, i wish they still wrote their own songs like this. it's also depressing that while labrie can still sing so well, portnoy and petrucci keep writing such basic stuff for him to sing. also, i think labrie's best (recorded) performance is actually the killing hand from live at the marquee.
  • The last part is the awesomeness, my penis loves it.
  • I love modern production, this is more powerful than the old one.
  • Vocally the best performance I've heard out of Labrie, in my opinion. But it could be better, I'm sure. Dio's voice > Labrie's voice in the end.
  • I've heard about 200 versions of this song and DT's rendition doesn't stand out as anything spectacular, except for Petrucci's solo, he really nailed it. No cover-version can touch the original and it's not because it's old. It's because of brutal awesomeness of Blackmore and Dio -combo.
  • the modern production really makes this version excellent. Of course, can't match the impact the original had when I first heard it!
  • AMMMAZING guitar solo...Petrucci is the man.
  • good;PPP
  • Good cover. Not as good as the original, but better than any of the new songs on Black Clouds.
  • @jamierobertward: Portnoy IS dream theater, if he leave there is nothing left. and i too hate that heavier "badass" direction.
  • Not bad, but the original is wayyy better.
  • i was surprised at how good this was. i thought labrie was gonna totally butcher it, considering the real version is probably my favorite vocal performance ever.
  • LaBrie doesn't sing like this because Portnoy is obviously wanting to go in a "heavier" direction which is totally retarded. If I was James I'd tell him to take away half his kit since that's what the rest of the band are essentially doing to their vocalist.
  • I like it, but LaBrie is no Dio. Other than that, it's a pretty faithful cover, but as with many faithful covers, what's really the point? It doesn't add anything new to the table.
  • Never heard the original version, but this kicked some serious ass!
  • Very enjoyable!
  • What a song! haven't heard it for 10 years maybe
  • I really enjoy this cover, but Dio is just such a better singer than LaBrie, and the Rainbow just sounds more epic, but still a good cover
  • Gr8 1
  • They dont hurt the original song..Nice Cover
  • Perfect!
  • Bloody hell, nice! Petrucci & LaBrie revived the song!
