Last album has some kind of an Obituary vibe to it compared to the first one that was more hardcore/punkish... the powerful "World Demise" era Obituary I mean... but with more agressivity and a clear modern sound. Awesome for the old man in me :-)
I think I'll have to agree with most people about the latest album. After listening to it a couple of times, it just feels like a snorefest compared to their earlier stuff. Some songs are too similar in style and (down-tempo) speed, just making it feel like a snail of doom trying to get forward but just isn't very good at it. Some tunes on SBD are great for sure, but compared to especially STL, it's a very mediocre record.
The Entombed and Dismember influences are sometimes almost ridiculously close to the original bands, but I do really like the hardcore edge of this stuff. I sure prefer this stuff to what Entombed became after their Clandestine album.
to be fair if this was instrumental, no one would call it crust, but who gives a fuck, everything about them is brilliant and unique. We are gathered here to applaud their music. not to fight over the definition.
Right, because vocals define the genre. Despite the fact that the music is complete swedish dm and early Florida dm worship. Also, if you say "newb" after 2005 you should blow your head open with a shotgun.
@CanIUseThis Yeah that's exactly why they aren't a death metal band. "CanIUseThis" clearly has little to no knowledge about genres. Perhaps he's just a newb and isn't aware of crust, and that there's loads of wicked crust/metal bands out there.
