Song that changed my life back in sept 93. Bought this 7" on impulse (probably one of the few copies available in the UK) and i knew immediately that this was where it was at, and it was time to stop listening to The Stone Roses and The Charlatans. Bought Icky Mettle 2 weeks later and still regard it as the best debut album ever.
I wish I were old enough to appreciate THIS indie rock (though I do like the modern stuff) back then, but listening to it now gives me the proper nostalgia and that intangible sensation to break through back in time.
I don't know if this is really obvious for others, but I just now realized that the narrator's "favorite lie" is love. So now the line "you're the web in front of my favorite lie" makes a lot more sense. Wow, what a great, not to mention heartbreakingly sad song.
