  • One of the most effortlessly great albums ever; ignore the horrible cover art and lame album title.. I own it on CD, LP, and promo cassette. Elements of shoegaze, psychedelic rock, and slowcore are perfectly woven into its DNA. An amazing blend of Cali pop and "Southern rock" with insidious melodies, like Neil Young meets early (AStorm In Heaven-era) Verve. (And Acetone were frequent tourmates of Verve, Spiritualized, and other like-minded bands.) Their secret weapon was their incredible, nuanced drummer. "Come On" in particular is just breathtakingly cool and inspiring. "Sundown" has to be the best "Southern rock" or "stoner rock" (yes, I hate those terms) song ever, aside form maybe Temple Of The Dog's "Reach Down". "Pinch" is a punkish rocker with a strange video. "Don't Cry" (not a G n' R cover) is a pretty, slow ballad or anti-ballad. "Barefoot On Sunday" concludes the album on a vast, epic note, after which you absolutely have to put on track 1 and hear the album again.
