Whats Your Favourite Progressive Metal Song?

  • Hmm... well i guess my favorite song would be 'Day Eleven: Love' by Ayreon. I just love that song as well as the whole 'The human equation' album :D.

Well, I don't think a lot of people would call it very progressive (though I'd disagree), but I think the Gettysburg trilogy by Iced Earth is a true masterpiece.

  • The Gettysburg Trilogy is the best thing done by IE in my opinion. The riffs are sometimes a bit too repetitive though sometimes. Still good stuff though.

I absolutely adore Space-Dye Vest, probably one of my favourite progressive pieces.

I love Novaё by Unexpect, more experimental than progressif but really good none the less.

You should check their myspace page they are awesome.

  • I found Unexpect a little while back. All I've heard from them is 'Novae', but I am blown away. That track has so much going on, yet is so well constructed. I highly recommend them to any prog metal fan.

''You ask, what is our policy? I will say: It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us: to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask: what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory - victory - at all costs, victory, in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival."

hey you forgot (may be not but i hope so) transatlantic (mike portnoy's project with neil morse), jordan rudess' solo albums (uh..perhaps it a bit too progressive to stay progressive ROCK), shadow gallery (in the vein of Symphony X), vanden plas... well there is a lot of great bands besides the very well known "masters of progressive metal" such as POS, Dream Theater or Symphony X... no ?
