Biography
yourlastbreath (aka yLb) formed in the winter of 2002. Rob, Eddie, Dan, and Matt started practicing in a friends basement in Santa Fe Springs, California. The recording of a demo 2 weeks after the band’s inception helped the band get shows and as a result, quickly gained a small following in the area.
yLb released the Cross My Heart EP in May 2003 on now-defunct Florida label Idle Records, and quickly rose to the top of the then music-giant MP3.com hardcore/metal charts. The EP is now out of print but can be downloaded online at http://www.soundclick.com/yourlastbreath. Later in the year, Mike replaced Dan on bass.
Tough times and member changes plagued the band, and as a result spent the majority of 2004 trying to keep its line-up solid. After a rotating door of 2nd guitarists and seemingly on its last legs, yLb finally found itself another guitarist named Kevin, and began trying to pick up the pieces that had fallen out of place.
In the Fall of 2004, yLb began work on a new EP. The band entered the studio in December to record 6 brand new songs. The record was titled, We Play For Keeps, mixed & mastered in the new year, and completed in January 2005.
A few of the songs were posted online in February 2005, and caught the attention of Northern California’s Twelve Gauge Records, which agreed to put out the EP and a forthcoming record. Saturday March 26th marked a sold-out CD release show for We Play For Keeps in Whittier, CA.
2005 was building up to be a huge year for the band, as they got their first taste of the road, doing several weekend treks and finally, a west coast tour in August with Dear Life and labelmates Heavy Heavy Low Low.
