Syndon (1998) was born in Antwerp, Belgium when five very different personalities came together to form a new rock band that could defy definition.
Syndon’s almost naive approach to music indeed has industry experts baffled: they seem to have created a truly unique sound that enables them to succesfully tackle a wide variety of songs, ranging from delicate busker ballads to grandiose miniature epics.
Syndon seem hell-bent on exploring the limits of musical contrast against the backdrop of accessible melodies. This approach has not only earned them a solid underground buzz, but also the respect of unlikely collaborators such as Luc Van Acker (Revolting Cocks, Ministry), who joined Syndon as their mixing producer mid 2005.
The unique band sound is the natural result of the different musical influences that have shaped the individual band members: Radiohead, Queen, Pink Floyd, Velvet Underground, Sigur Ros…
As a whole, the band is caught in the tension between the two frontmen: on the one hand Gerrit, introspective and brooding and on the other hand Guy, anguished and uneasy.
Live Syndon have always chosen to highlight this tension in a blistering rock show, stripping the songs down to their bare essence. In the studio, Syndon exploit all technical possibilities to weave an intricate web of sounds that expose the haunting melodies to the fullest extent.
