Sun Gone Mad is the only original Neanderthal three-piece band which managed to reincarnate enough times to enlighten this sad and treacherous 21st century. Two of them came down from the heart of the Swiss Alps - the canton with the poetic name Grisons (Grey). The other one is from Yorkshire, another lyrical corner of our planet.
They started jamming on acoustic guitars and homemade percussions in the spring of 2007 and the songs they made felt like sitting by the fire with something precious in your hand. Nevertheless, drums and electricity were inevitable and so their abstract kung-fu sound became complete. The summer of 2008 saw them recording their debut album in Sedrun, Switzerland - drenched in blue skies, green grass and cheap beer. It’s a double album and it’s called D(r)iving Music - the first part being mostly instrumental, meditation-inducing tracks and the second one more down and dirty with the likes of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and The Warlocks. Note - This is the order which they were recorded although they are presented in retrospect by the finished product.
Famous for their live shows which combine savage energy with trippy and technicolored visual effects, these days Sun Gone Mad are busy playing mostly in London, Switzerland and maybe your back yard. Untill then you can hear them here and on myspace.
