Mustis, is the pseudonym of Øyvind Mustaparta, a Norwegian keyboardist, best known for his work in the Norwegian melodic black metal band Dimmu Borgir. Mustis joined Dimmu Borgir in 1998 and contributed to their atmosphere with his melodic keyboard parts. This can be heard in songs such as Progenies of the Great Apocalypse (which he composed) on their Death Cult Armageddon album (released in 2003 with Nuclear Blast). He hasn’t played in any other bands previous to Borgir and had his first live performance at the Dynamo Open Air festival in the summer of 1998.

He and the lead singer Shagrath were friends before he joined the band. His keyboard addition brings a new melodic element to the “evil” sound Dimmu Borgir possesses.

Mustis’ studio works with Dimmu Borgir include Spiritual Black Dimensions (1999), Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia (2001), Death Cult Armageddon (2003), the re-release of Stormblåst (2005) and In Sorte Diaboli (2007).

On August 31 the official page of Dimmu Borgir announced that they were parting paths with their bassist Vortex and their keyboardist Mustis. In Mustis’ interview posted some days later it is stated that this happened because of Dimmu Borgir’s long-year ignorance and unwillingness to give him credits for the songs he’s written.

According to recent information in Susperia’s official homepage, Mustis is going to play with them on Eurovision, representing Norway, if their song reaches the finals.
