Moonjabber is the electronic soundwork of musicians/composers Todd Markham and Bill Johnston. Their music was originally released to a private community of musicians, artists, and local stations in California during the early 90’s, and is long out of print.
They published a single titled “Petroglyph” in 1992, and one full length release in ‘94 called “suQwetchazima” -(pronounced; soo-kwet-cha-zima)- a pseudo-native term they coined, meaning “People of the Spirit”. In the rock and pop dominated market, their passion for soundtrack & electronic composition was influenced only by pioneers like Tangerine Dream, Vangelis, Steve Roach and Brian Eno.
Even amidst the emerging New Age scene, electronic music was still a sound design not ready for mainstream radio play, and delays in timing and other opportunites saw their equipment being packed before they could record their third release—one on cd, through their own independent label (a rarity at the time).
Moonjabber presently has no plans for a new release. However, some of the original analog material has been digitally edited for streaming— exclusively to Lastfm listeners.
