Introduction
MOAI is Jimmy Leonardsson from Sweden and Remi Despret from France.
The main focus of MOAI is electronic dance music (EDM) with a mix of various genres like Progressive / house / Techno / Trance / Psychedelic etc. From minimal to maximal, MOAI is genre-defying musical evolution.
History
Jimmy was born in 1982 in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1992 he got introduced to some underground techno music by a friend. Obsessed with this sound he desperately tried to get hold of new material but in vain. It wasnt until late 1999 that he rediscovered the beauty of quality electronic music when he listened to Hallucinogen - LSD. Shortly after in year 2000 he started making his own music on his PC, Releasing music under the name “ETHEREAL PHAZE”. He uploaded some music on MP3.COM and thats how he got in contact with Remi from France who was then known as “MANTRA SPIRIT”. They decided to work together. That’s how “MOAI” was born.
Breakthrough
Between February and May 2002 MOAI participated in a music contest hosted by “PSYNEWS.ORG”. The tracks “LIQUID BLUE VISION” and “CHIMERA” was scheduled to be released on a CD called “Another Demention” but Inpsyde Media / OutOfOrion finally cancelled it.
