Variously described as anything from a Pumped-Up Polyphonic Spree to a Punked-out Meatloaf… no wait, COME BACK! Destined to divide opinion from the obsessed to repelled, Leeds-based theatrical odd-balls Loqui are in possession of a unique sound and stage show that has been enthusing and bemusing in equal measure.

Loqui have built a reputation on an uproarious live show that encompasses genres as diverse as rock, punk, pop and a myriad of alternative styles as well as the licensed usage of the potentially lethal controlled substances ska, funk and hip-hop. (Certification available on request).

In 2005 the band released the now sold-out compilation I Can’t Believe It’s Not Better, a remastered collection of singles, EP tracks and demos along with some previously unreleased material. The new single The Average White Boy (Feb 2008) collected universally ecstatic reviews (actually not quite universal, there was that one bloke from Teletext who thought it sounded like a crap Paul Simon… but you can’t please all the people etc…) enough to see it sell out at any rate. And enough for it to be re-released this August. Basically as a make-weight for the new album, hopefully out by the end of the year.

Now added to the bill at Reading Festival and Leeds Festival, the band look set to consolidate their position as one of the region’s most affectionately regarded cults.
