Lomov. Real name: Axel Bergk. Born 1960 in Hanover, Germany. German high-school finished in 1978. Studies in History of Art, Philosophy, Archeology and Sinology at the University of Hamburg. University degree as Magister Artium in 1990. Engaged in fine arts from 1987 to 2000 with exhibitions in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands focusing on conceptual paintings and photography. Living in Hamburg, Germany, and working for an international management consultancy as visualization expert. Co-founder of the German netlabel ‘stadtgruen’.

Wide spread musical background with influences from early electronica musicians like Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze in the 70s, passing world and minimal music, fusion and classical jazz in the 80s, and classical music in the 90s. Then rediscovering the electronica at the end of the last millennium. Highlights of the course: Emerson. Lake and Palmer, Brian Eno, Steve Reich, Oregon, Therje Rypdal, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Miles Davis, Glen Gould, and as causer of my first attempts in producing music without having any musical education: SND and Jan Jelinek.

Starting with my sound creations in 2000 using solely computers and laptops. First software was the Melody Maker, a notation program, followed by Storm, Reason and testing out Fruity Loops. But the most satisfying combination is a set-up of Ableton Live and Native Instruments Reaktor till today, because of the chance to built up new sound structures very quickly. This more spontaneous way of creation was translated from my fine arts approach: art is a perishable thing which has to be revealed instantly by catching the ‘kairos’.
