Les Discrets is a French post-rock project. It is the sole musical creation of Fursy Teyssier who also played in Amesoeurs and has created artwork for other bands including, Alcest, Amesoeurs, Arctic Plateau, Agalloch, Neun Welten, and The American Dollar.

Les Discrets is the musical approach of Fursy Teyssier’s artistic research. Originally an animated film director, Fursy tends to evoke the same in both music and animation/illustration: contemplative and esoteric atmospheres, feelings, fears and sensations related to our life and world. His paintings, music or lyrics are mostly about nature, the feeling of love and his fear of death.

The debut release, an EP, was expected to be released by UK label Todestrieb Records but the deal was called off in favour of another label.

Les Discret’s first album, “Septembre et Ses Dernières Pensées”, was released on March, 2010 through Germany-based label Prophecy Productions.

I don`t really know what to think of it. It IS good, but I`m kinda not sure if it`s also one of those albums that will actually grow on me in time beyond just being good.

Wow, from some people's point of view, EVERYTHING seems to resemble either Alcest or Agalloch...

really love the new record, the artbook is again wonderful, the production is typical for prophecy band, which is good of course. But nothing special or mindblowing. But it fits perfectly to the record. But overall it doesn't touch me like the first one did, which is nothing bad either, since both records are really, really outstanding masterpieces.

Because my friend; no one asked you. Also, it is a mistake to confuse "review/rating" with comparing two separate and independent works. It is also a mistake to confuse "demand" with viability. You do understand what 'subjective' means right? With 26,000+ listeners of LD on this site, shall we have everyone's "honest opinion" on this page? Perhaps there is interest in 26,000 -dishonest opinions- as well? As to your question: The answer is self evident. Would you be running on about it if you thought your opinion was inferior? Mediocre? When one comes forth with -unsolicited- reviews replete with grand language [i.e. "lacks high points and the fluidity", "emotional punch"] it's obvious they're trying too hard. I don't really care but you did ask and thank you for "entirely welcome[ing us] to think otherwise". I do. As my pops would say: "Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one (and most of them stink)." Enjoy your artbook sometime sooon!

If a general consensus on the quality of music was not in demand, then would it not mean that music review/rating sites and publications would cease to exist? Obviously there are many that do care for such things, although of course one should not turn to them as a means of defining their own preferences. Now, I am curious, how is it that a simple statement of my opinion translates into my considering myself as being "superior" in my judgement of music?

@AcronymBlood_ I guess not. I'd love to hear you explain why Ariettes Oublees is "too Agalloch" cause I really don't know

V "'Tis not like my shout was of any less intelligence than the majority of what goes on across the various shoutboxes on Last.fm." That's quite true but it's a bit like getting a participation ribbon for just showing up. Nice double negative btw. There'll -always- be those that insist in demonstrating their superiority in judging music by comparing albums. What *oh dear* are they compensating for I wonder? Comparing the highly personal stimulus of heard music is so subjective I see little point. General consensus? No one really cares but ... carry on if you must.

Both bands play something that consists of a blending of post-punk, shoegaze, post-rock, and varying sprinkles of black metal, both released albums at roughly the same time, both have performed and worked together many times in the past, both hail from the same part of the same country.. Sure, the end results are not EXACTLY the same, but no two bands sound EXACTLY alike if we are getting that particular about, but it is impossible not to draw from the many connections between the two groups, and it is harmless to debate which album is of superior quality. 'Tis not like my shout was of any less intelligence than the majority of what goes on across the various shoutboxes on Last.fm.

@AliveInChains15: Fair enough if the albums are by the same artist, or even in the same genre. Alcest and Les Discrets are COMPLETELY different... The only things they have in common are that they are French and have worked together in the past. Comparing the 2 new albums tells me you know nothing about either of them.
