Texas, International, Experimental, World Pop Alternative ensemble LA GUERRILLA feature: Singer/guitarist Enrique Rumiche (Peru), drummer/samples Paul Joseph Loney (Texas) & horns/percussion/vocalist Zumbi (Jamaica).

After moving from Baton Rouge, LA, Rumiche recruited musicians in the Austin area and began working on a project called “Guerrilla of Lilliput”. Not having a complete band, he wrote most of their material with the help of drum machines and samplers. Accompanied by friends on percussion, they began playing at coffee shops.

In the Spring of 2008, they recorded a demo maxi single. Soon after they were performing at several city festivals, and local TV shows backed by a rotating group of musicians. By the end of the year they decided to become a full-fledged band, now known simply as LA GUERRILLA.

Adding energetic showmanship, DIY theatrics, and an array of props (toy accordions, megaphones, and motorcycle helmets) to their shows; the new lineup began touring and creating a buzz around the Texas area. In January 2010 they released their self titled debut E.P. After playing at several local, and state festivals, Austin blogs took notice calling LA GUERRILLA “The Next Up and Coming Austin Band”. On May 27th, 2010 their hometown’s city council declared “La Guerrilla Day” in the City of Austin. Moreover, earlier in 2011 they were featured on NPR with their single “Ganas no me Faltan”. After being featured on Telemundo, CBS, Fox, Univision, BestFestivals.net, The Austin american Statesman, the Austin Chronicle and more, now you can catch them on PANDORA, and soon SPOTIFY radio.
