Shreveport LA, United States (2007 – present)

iwrestledabearonce are a band from Shreveport, Louisiana that utilizes a variety of genres and musical influences. The band incorporate various styles of music and shuffle through them rapidly but they do maintain an overall sound with influence. Since their formation in 2007, they’ve released one self-titled EP within the same year via Tragic Hero Records and two full-length albums, It’s All Happening and Ruining It For Everybody, in 2009 and 2011 respectively, via Century Media. It’s All Happening was re-issued June 29, 2010 in a deluxe edition featuring a bonus remix CD and a DVD containing the promo videos for “See You In Shell” and “You Ain’t No Family”, the stems of “Tastes Like Kevin Bacon” and “You Ain’t No Family” for use with remixing, and more.

During Warped Tour 2012, it was announced that vocalist Krysta Cameron had become pregnant and would have to leave the band for the rest of the tour. She was replaced by friend Courtney LaPlante of Unicron for the remainder of the tour. However, bassist Mike Martin stated that same summer that Cameron would be permanently replaced by LaPlante. As of January 24, 2013 the band is writing music for their third studio album with LaPlante on vocals.

Current lineup:

Courtney LaPlante (vocals)
Steven Bradley (lead guitar, keyboards, samples, programming)
John Ganey (rhythm guitar, keyboards, samples, programming)
Mikey Montgomery (drums, backing vocals)
Mike “Rickshaw” Martin (bass)

Former members:

I'm actually really impressed with the new album. I was so disappointed when Krysta left and I thought Late for Nothing was really lame. But Hail Mary goes hard as fuck. It's not as fun and goofy as their previous work but it's still really creative. Some riffs remind me of Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza. And that is not a bad thing at all.

Loved the previous album, disliking the new album. Such monotonous deathcore with no surprises at all. Boring and annoying at the same time.

Only band that can manage to have Dillinger Escape Plan and Emmure in their top similar artists.

Courtney is a great vocalist but not nearly as interesting and dynamic as Krysta [2] Dynamics! That's what's missing vocal-wise on the latest record. It's either shouting very hard at mid range or generic clean singing. It's really hard to make it through the album because of that.

They try to sound heavy instead of fun... do not like that.

The album has it's moments but it could be more experimental and less deathcore to me. Still I'm a bit surprised that I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

Not sure why everyone is loving this album, it has it's moments but it's very samey save one or two songs...Courtney is a great vocalist but not nearly as interesting and dynamic as Krysta. I kind of hoped for more off this album.
