Shreveport LA, United States (2007 – present)

iwrestledabearonce are a band from Shreveport, Louisiana that utilizes a variety of genres and musical influences. The band incorporate various styles of music and shuffle through them rapidly but they do maintain an overall sound with influence. Since their formation in 2007, they’ve released one self-titled EP within the same year via Tragic Hero Records and two full-length albums, It’s All Happening and Ruining It For Everybody, in 2009 and 2011 respectively, via Century Media. It’s All Happening was re-issued June 29, 2010 in a deluxe edition featuring a bonus remix CD and a DVD containing the promo videos for “See You In Shell” and “You Ain’t No Family”, the stems of “Tastes Like Kevin Bacon” and “You Ain’t No Family” for use with remixing, and more.

During Warped Tour 2012, it was announced that vocalist Krysta Cameron had become pregnant and would have to leave the band for the rest of the tour. She was replaced by friend Courtney LaPlante of Unicron for the remainder of the tour. However, bassist Mike Martin stated that same summer that Cameron would be permanently replaced by LaPlante. As of January 24, 2013 the band is writing music for their third studio album with LaPlante on vocals.

Current lineup:

Courtney LaPlante (vocals)
Steven Bradley (lead guitar, keyboards, samples, programming)
John Ganey (rhythm guitar, keyboards, samples, programming)
Mikey Montgomery (drums, backing vocals)
Mike “Rickshaw” Martin (bass)

Former members:
Krysta Cameron (vocals)

Ugh, not that discordant-core again plox. Now mixing it up with even more fashionable djenty riffs and a poor choice of guest vocals. Late For Nothing is miles beyond their other stuff, but I'm afraid it's gonna stay that way.

New song sounds great. Got that spazzy feel to it like their older stuff. Keeping it good and heavy too.

New song has restored my faith in this band, interesting to hear the guitarist from Fall In Archaea joined iwabo....digging his influence a lot on the band.

Even though it's a good deathcore song (despise the new dude from Suicide Silence), I miss some clean vocals as well but I'm not sure if Courtney can sing Bjork-ish as Krysta did. That's one of the things that made this band so unique and also something that's been missing on the third album. I guess I wouldn't mind if they go brutal.

Clean vocals are sorely missing on the new track. Hopefully the new album will have them as they are part of the IWABO charm for me.

  • Asomatica New single is here. At first I thought "shit, they went full blown generic deathcore." Then 1:05 happened.
