Peet has been in bands since the late eighties. He started out playing guitar in a garage rock band called Digestives, but moved to mellower pastures in the early nineties, playing folky indie and roots music with the Restless Hearts, Society Dog Show and Feed The Cynics.
With singer Bas Veldhuizen he recorded an album called “Bas Veldhuizen en Peet Didderiëns” and as Buksjek he has released “Gister Zoog Ich Charley Patton” , a single of experimental pop in his native, Limburg dialect.
Peet has written and recorded music for documentary and corporate films. He has also worked as a sound recordist for several documentary film projects and has traveled extensively in Europe and South East Asia.
Hewdie’s debut single “Cold Eyes” was released on Rauh Records in 2004. It garnered some airplay and landed him his first major newspaper interview. A 3 song e.p. “Train Left This Morning” was released later that year.
These early releases were influenced by the electric music of his previous bands, but Peet soon developed a more personal and stripped down style of songwriting. “Bye Bye Melancholy Baby”, a mini album of acoustic songs about heartbreak and estrangement, is a prime example of his artless, evocative style. It was released in 2006 with little fanfare, but it has since found favour with a growing group of fans.
