Goodnight or Sleep was formed in early 2004 by Matt Dermond, Mike Filippone, and Zane Kanevsky. The group originally wrote high-energy, pop-infused dance songs which became very popular at the southern New Jersey shows where they often performed. In late 2004, the group released their first EP titled From a Boy in a Hospital Bed to much local success.

However, in early 2005, after more than a year of performing their brand of pop, Goodnight or Sleep decided it was time to stop performing live to begin working on new music and recordings. This began a year-long period of experimentation and sparse live performance which led to the creation of a set of recordings that was ready for release in early 2006.

At that time Matt, Mike, and Zane decided to begin the building of a collective, named The Peach Tree Umbrella Company, as an outlet for their various forms of artistic expression. It was under this collective that their newest and future recordings could be released alongside their artwork, writings, etc.

The Peach Tree Umbrella Company Presents: Goodnight or Sleep/Terminal was released in May 2006 as the first official release by the collective (though their previous EP has also been added to the catalogue). The members are currently working on the creation of new material for another release as well as new art and writings.

I was there for the last live playing of From a Boy in a Hospital Bed. It was my first time seeing you and it was upsetting cause I liked those songs so much more than the next album. But I still have that cd in my regular rotation(well I mp3'd it but still)
