EMEMVOODOOPÖKÁ hail from a small town near Prague, CZ, with and encompass all the connotations that may suggest. Yes, they work in the big city, but they can still fix their rotten 80s car on their own. French pate in expensive shops is great, but homemade sausages taste much better. In their music, the tender subtlety of Sebadoh or Yo La Tengo meets straight expression of The Fall and the Stooges, sticky glam rock perversion confronts romantic melancholia and pub rock, football anthems go hand in hand with the shining light of the discoball. “It is the sound of brutally shagging someone you tenderly love,” comes from label Silver Rocket.

The latest record Dort jak brus (2005) was awarded for best alternative album for the Czech Music Academy Awards and also nominated for best album for the Czech Internet Music Awards.

Ememvoodoopöká disbanded november 2006 because of strong personal reasons.
