"elysium+obscura yearns to reconnect to the elysian fields of our souls… to reclaim our divinity from the jaws of the 20th century. Our music strives to ritualize this need of reconnection, to reawaken our oneness with life, accept our death and transcend into our rebirth… that which has always been." Program Notes from Esoteric Book Conference. September 23, 2009

elysium+obscura gets their inspiration from the Cascade mountains and lore of its peoples. Si~ Maata (composer) is a story weaver for his tribe (Cowlitz/Shahala) and uses folklore and field recordings in many of their compositions. Amber A Darkwood joined the project in Dec. of 08, adding a new dimension to the developing vision of elysium+obscura. Their craft is very rooted in the Animism and Lost Wisdom of their Cascadian Bio-region but are also very focused on a collective Rites of Passage into the 7th generation.

elysium+obscura have put out one limited edition {23 copies} CD-R and have appeared on the 2009 In Autumnal Fog comp. from Sketsis Net-label and Vol. 33 on the Droning Earth/EGB Net-label from Finland. elysium+obscura are in the studios mastering several albums to be released throughout 2010-2011 on Si~'s experimental folk label, +haven+, and some other labels TBA. They have performed several public rituals in 2009 including the Esoteric Book Conference on Sep. 23, 2009 but have taken a break from performance to focus on personnel transformations.

elysium+obscura live outside of Olympia, Washington in the Cascadia Bioregion.
