About this album
danjor is the debut and self titled album by danjor (Josh Thompson), from Wellington, New Zealand. The lyrics cover a variety of life situations, but are easy to relate to. “Love, Faith and Hope” and “Valentines Day” talk about the ups and downs of love, “Surrender” talks of the relief of finally giving everything up to God, and “Something Bigger” implores others to do the same. “Gone to Heaven” speaks of the pleasure of knowing God’s presence.
The album also contains four live acoustic tracks, and three instrumental tracks, one of which is a two minute intro to the song “Surrender” and the other two are stand-alone. “Waves” is a more dark and slow track, while “Two, Five, One, Go!” is a more upbeat electronic track. Both are named after their musical attributes. In “Waves”, the contour of the melody and the terraced arrangement of the song give the impression of waves, whilst in “Two, Five, One, Go!” the main theme includes a II-V-I chord sequence.
