Christian Hildebrandt (born 1967) is an autodidact Copenhagen based danish composer. His devotion to choral music has since the 1990’s led him to composing a considerable number of choral works. Most of them are created as part of the ongoing involvement in the composers’ group “Komvest”.
Christian Hildebrandt’s composing style is quite late romantic but also influenced by an intense study of renaissance music and contemporary nordic choral music. He has also composed chamber music and computer music.
Christian Hildebrandt’s choral works have been performed and recorded by notably danish choirs as Hymnia (www.hymnia.dk), Coro Misto (www.coromisto.dk) and Ensemble Vest (the project choir of Komvest).

Magnificat II – Magnificat Fragmente The Virgin Mary listened to the Angel Gabriel with joy and fear, when he told her the news about the new King she had been chosen by God to be mother for. This Magnificat setting from 2007 seeks to express the difficult mixture of feelings which follow the entrance in life of a new human being. Happiness, fear, loving care, doubt, gladness, anger and powerlessness. The thought behind this work is, that when a newborn life comes into the world the old life will be fragmented.
